Hazard Mitigation Plan Update 2022

The Town of Scituate has completed the update to the Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The purpose of the HMP is to identify the town’s risk and vulnerability to potential natural hazards and identify strategies to mitigate those hazards. Specifically, this plan assesses the potential impacts of floods, winter storms, wind events, geologic hazards, extreme heat hazards, drought and wildfire related hazards, sea level rise, and invasive species hazards.

The HMP identifies properties, resources, and critical facilities which may be vulnerable to these hazards and identifies mitigation strategies and actions aimed at reducing the loss of or damage to life, property, infrastructure and natural, cultural, and economic resources. Completing updates on the plan every five years is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
