Providing older adults with information, education, stimulation, recreation, socialization, transportation, wellness and outreach

The mission of the Scituate Senior Center is to promote the physical,
intellectual and emotional wellness of our community of older adults
by cultivating connections, fostering independence and
enhancing quality of life.

When calling our main number, 781-545-8870, listen to the automated message to be directed to the appropriate staff person or press "0" for the Front Desk.  Leave any contact information that is helpful, including cell phone and e-mail if you have it.  Please see the Classes and Activities tab for our current programs, many of which require advance sign-ups, including lunch up to two weeks in advance (recommended!).

Outreach & Wellness Services

Outreach Services are available to the senior (60+) and disabled adult population of Scituate to assist with applications for financial, housing and benefit assistance, including SNAP (Food Stamps), Fuel Assistance, Public Housing, and Medical Insurance, as well as information or referral to South Shore Elder Services' Meals on Wheels and the Scituate Food Pantry.

We have a SHINE volunteer counselor to assist individuals and couples turning 65 or older with information on Medicare and appropriate health insurance programs for their needs and related health insurance matters.

We have rotating local attorneys providing complimentary appointments one time per month.

The Town Nurse is with us on the 2nd Friday every month for appointments to check your blood pressure or assist with other questions, including giving B-12 shots if eligible.

We also offer monthly appointments with providers in Reflexology, Reiki, Medical Foot Care and Manicures/Pedicures for a modest cost.

Transportation Services

The Scituate Senior Center/Council on Aging provides transportation services to Scituate adults 60+, and those who meet ADA requirements for general rides within Scituate as able, as well as rides to and from Medical appointments, including out-of-town destinations as far as Boston.

Scheduled trips to the local markets as follows:

Please contact our Transportation Coordinator at 781-545-8872 for any transportation requests or questions.  Rides within Scituate should be scheduled at least 2 days in advance; out-of-town medical rides should be scheduled at least 5 days in advance.  For new clients, a brochure should be requested and signed in order to begin to schedule rides with the Senior Center.
