LOCAL TRANSPORTATION The Scituate Senior Center provides safe and reliable transportation for older adults 60+ and people living with disabilities who meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  Our wheelchair accessible vehicles are available for rides to medical and dental appointments, weekly grocery shopping trips, and other local appointments and services.  We provide a weekly trip to Shaw's Supermarket on Wednesdays - please call to be added to the list for pickup by our driver.  If you have additional needs, please call 781-545-8872 to speak with Stephanie or leave a message with your request.  We will make every effort to accommodate your needs.

Please call the Transportation Coordinator at least two days in advance for local rides.

The cost for a local ride is $1.75 or $3.50 round trip. You may purchase a 10-ride pass for $15.00.

Please bring exact payment; drivers do not carry cash. Checks are accepted.  Payment for multiple rides may be made at the Senior Center or mailed to 333 First Parish Rd.  Payments can also be made through the town’s online payment portal

SNOW POLICY:  If Scituate schools are closed for inclement weather, the Senior Center vans will not run.

The Senior Center contracts rides when necessary with the South Shore Community Action Council for out of town medical rides that we cannot accommodate.  Their wheelchair accessible vehicles provide rides to medical facilities between Plymouth and Boston. Rides are scheduled by the Senior Center.

Please call the Transportation Coordinator at least five days in advance to schedule an out of town medical ride.

When you call, be prepared to provide your appointment date and time and the duration of the appointment. You will also need to provide your doctor’s name, address and phone number.  When possible, we encourage you to schedule your medical appointments mid-day, especially if you are going to Boston as that is the window of availability with SSCAC.  Otherwise, you may have to be picked up very early or wait for a late afternoon return.

Cost for out of town medical rides is $10.00 round trip to most South Shore locations; $20.00 round trip to Boston or Plymouth.

Out of town medical drivers do not accept payment on the van.  Payments can be made by mailing a check to the Senior Center at 333 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA 02066 or through Scituate’s online payment portal:

Cancellations are required at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled ride, or you may be responsible for the full cost billed by the South Shore Community Action Council.

Transportation cannot be provided for people being discharged from a hospital or skilled nursing facility.  Those undergoing anesthesia during their medical appointment are required to have an escort.  A van companion can be requested with the Senior Center if that is necessary and we will make all efforts to accommodate if able.
