OUTDOOR WATER USE
As of May 1st each year outdoor watering is prohibited between 9AM and 5PM through September 30th in "normal" years. Multiple times over the last several years, we have seen more restrictive limits on water use including up to Tier 4 bans. A Tier 4 ban prohibits the use of all nonessential outdoor water use, which includes the following:
- Watering lawns
- Filling pools
- Washing vehicles and boats
- Washing exterior surfaces
- Watering flowers (vegetable gardens are exempt and may be watered for the production of food)
Water is our Town's shared resource and we are all in this together. If we all work together and conserve water usage throughout the year, we are less likely to see extended water bans.
Questions about the outdoor water restrictions?
EXPERIENCING BROWN OR DISCOLORED WATER?
Increased usage, manganese in the reservoir and water main breaks can lead to brown or discolored water. If this happens at your home, alert the Water Department by phone, email or online survey with every instance of brown water.
Phone: (781) 545-8735
Email: brownwater@scituatema.gov
Online Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/scituatewaterquality
We realize this may become tedious in the case of consistent discoloration but the Town can’t work to address your specific issues if we don’t know about them.
