Weekend weather advisory

We want to send out a brief weekend weather advisory for our residents. This afternoon we will get some rain (2-4pm) followed by strong steady west winds in excess of 25mph with potential gusts to 45mph. This may create some downed branches and tree limbs which could result in some isolated power outages, nothing widespread expected.

Early Sunday morning we will start to experience the effects of a quick moving coastal storm. We will have heavy rains throughout the day hopefully tapering off by (Patriots) game time at 4:25pm. As the rains taper off the winds will increase from the northeast (25-30mph) turning northwest by late evening. Fortunately the strongest winds will be in the afternoon during the low tide.

We will be experiencing astronomical high tides starting this weekend (8am/9am) and the high tides will continue through Thanksgiving. We may experience some minor coast flooding in our low lying areas due to the astronomical high tides even though the winds are in our favor at the time of high tide. We may see some minor flooding during the Sunday morning and evening tides approximately at 9am and 9pm.

The areas with the highest impact will be Cole Parkway and Mill Wharf Marina parking lots and possibly at the intersection of Lighthouse Rd. and Rebecca Rd. Expect ongoing minor flooding in these areas during the morning high tides through next week including the noon high tide during Thanksgiving Day. Flooding will likely start an hour before each high tide.

Please consider the flood tides if you decide to drive, walk, or park in these areas this week.

Stay Safe & Happy Thanksgiving!
