Water Conservation Tips

These helpful suggestions to conserve water have been provided by you! We have received many submittals and will continue to share each week. Send your tips to conservewater@scituatema.gov

  • Collect shower water normally wasted during the “warm up” period. This captures 2-4 gallons.

  • Don’t run the water while you are brushing your teeth.

  • Collect water from your dehumidifier in gallon water jugs and use it to water plants both inside and out.

  • When you refresh your pets’ water bowl pour the unused water into a bucket and recycle it into the bird bath or elsewhere outside.

  • Purchase a rain barrel or two. It collects even small amounts of rain and also acts as a storage medium catchall for other small sources of water. A 55 gallon barrel collects quickly when it rains.
