Smoke Testing Alert

The Town of Scituate is committed to maintaining and improving the functionality of our sanitary sewers. To achieve this goal, we are partnering with engineering firm Environmental Partners and EST Associates Inc. to conduct smoke testing investigations starting Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

These investigations aim to identify sources of extraneous water in our sanitary sewers, particularly at Gates Middle School, the High School, and Cushing School sewer mains during April vacation.

Here are some key details about the project:

• Testing Dates: Starting Tuesday, April 16, 2024
• Testing Locations: Gates Middle School, the High School, and Cushing School sewer mains
• Testing Methodology: Using harmless, odorless smoke to detect leaks and defects in the sewer system
• Coordination: Testing will be coordinated by Environmental Partners and conducted by EST Associates Inc. along with crews from the Town of Scituate
• Testing Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM
• Fire and Police Departments will be notified of all testing locations
