Scituate New Senior Center / Recreation Center Renovation Project – Update #10

Progress update and upcoming three-week look-ahead schedule

The project has been divided into main work areas as follows:

General/Site Conditions

  • Site grading continues
  • Installation of onsite utilities for drainage system
  • Installation of the water service including the connection to the water main in First Parish Road

Senior Center

  • Perimeter foundation and elevator pit is complete
  • Damproofing of foundation is complete
  • Backfilling of foundation ongoing
  • Underground plumbing and electric

Recreation Center

  • Concrete for new stairs
  • Framing of ramp
  • Asbestos abatement

Please note: the above schedule is based on information provided by the General Contractor during the weekly job meetings, and is subject to change depending on weather, unforeseen conditions, or other reasons.

Also note the current work involves heavy equipment resulting in noise and vibration.

The current issue with COVID-19 is not expected to delay or halt the construction work, unless directed by local, State, and/or Federal health officials. The contractor is following all guidelines issued by the Commonwealth of MA.

  • Installation of the water service including the connection to the water main in First Parish Road to start on 5/5/20.
  • Installation of sewer connection in First Parish Road to start on 5/11/20

Senior Center

  • Masonry elevator shaft
  • Backfilling of foundation
  • Underground plumbing and electric

Recreation Center

  • Concrete for new stairs
  • Framing of ramp
  • Asbestos abatement to start on 5/4/20
