Roadway Update

Road Work Sign

The Town will be conducting paving operations on the following streets:

First Parish Road from Branch Street to the railroad tracks will be starting April 27th. The expected duration is 3 days of roadway preparation which will include grinding and raising casting . Then an asphalt leveling course will be placed. A second contractor will begin rebuilding the sidewalk. This is expected to take up to 4 weeks. When the sidewalk is completed the paver will return and apply the final top coat of asphalt. Then the road will be marked with permanent pavement markings. This will be a similar project to the one on Beaver Dam Road last season.

Oceanside Drive from First Ave to Turner Road with a section of Turner Road. The road will be ground and then leveled with asphalt. This work is expected to start April 30th.

Captain Pierce Road from Country Way to Curtis will have the asphalt ground down. Then a leveling course and top course of asphalt will be applied to the roadway. This work is scheduled to start on May 6th.

Torreys Lane: The asphalt will be ground down and then leveled with asphalt. The work is scheduled to start on May 8th.

Mann Lot Road: This road will be reconstructed differently and concurrently with the other paving projects. This road will be pulverized and then graded and paved. This will be a longer process and the asphalt contractor has not committed to a starting time for the pulverization of this road. The base of this road will be rebuilt and it will allow the Town to widen some of the tighter spots on this road.

The asphalt contractor performing this work is scheduling the paving operation. The schedule is dependent on production, weather and equipment breakdowns, which directly impacts the timing. All work will start at 7:00 am and should be completed by 5:00 pm. When these roads are under construction they will be open to residents only and traffic will be impacted.
