Scituate Police Chief Mark Thompson graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia today, completing a rigorous 10-week course along with 198 other law enforcement professionals from 46 states, the District of Columbia, 21 countries, four military organizations and three (3) federal civilian agencies.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. FBI Academy Instructors, special agents, and other staff with advanced degrees provide the training. National Academy students are also able to earn undergraduate and graduate school credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits all the National Academy courses offered.

“Chief Thompson is an outstanding Police Chief and leader not only for the Scituate Police Department, but for the entire community.” said Maura Curran, Chair of the Scituate Select Board. “I know I join the entire Board in congratulating Mark on this tremendous achievement and we look forward to him applying the lessons he learned to the Town of Scituate.”

“It was an incredible honor to be selected to attend the FBI National Academy and a privilege to be a member of Class 287.”

“I am looking forward to bringing back the knowledge and resources gained from the NA.  I’d like to thank the Board, members of the department and my family for all of their support during my time at the academy. “ added Chief Thompson.
