Outdoor Water Use Reminders

With July 4th just a few days away, this is a reminder that we are in an outdoor water use ban. Our water use typically peaks over July 4th weekend and we want to make it through the holiday without having to make further restrictions.

ALL outdoor watering must occur BEFORE 9 AM and after 5 PM. This includes using your hose for any lawn or garden watering, washing your car or boat, topping off your pool, and power washing your driveway, porch, deck, house, etc. Of course those residents with rain barrels can water their gardens and lawns with rain barrel water any time.

Inground lawn irrigation systems can be used ONLY one day/week, depending on your precinct. If you don’t know your precinct, go to www.scituatema.gov/water to find it.

While this ban does not technically apply to Scituate residents with private wells, we encourage private well users to be as conscientious as town water users about water conservation during May 1 to September 30, including the July 4th holiday.

Thank you all for everything you do to help us conserve water. Have a safe, restful, and fun holiday!!
