Hurricane Isaias

All of Massachusetts is under a tropical storm warning. Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to transit west of us Tuesday evening bringing strong southeast winds and bands of (much needed) rain. The tropical storm is forecast to have maximum sustained winds of 35mph with gusts to 55mph in our area. The closest passage and most significant impacts are forecast to be Tuesday evening from sunset to midnight.

Be aware that these tropical systems can bring isolated strong thunderstorms at any time during transit. Please secure your deck furniture, grills, & any other equipment you have outside your home.

You should be prepared for the potential of scattered power outages due to the gusty winds. If generators are needed, make sure you have good fuel & be sure to keep the exhaust away from your home to reduce the potential for any carbon monoxide issues. We do not expect any flooding issues with the southerly winds but may experience strong rip currents at our beaches.

Please stay informed as any shift to the east could increase the impacts for our area. You can find supporting information on the Scituate Emergency Management page on the Town of Scituate website www.scituatema.gov.

Be well & Stay Safe!
