High Wind Warning

Please be aware that we are expecting heavy rain and extremely high winds for Monday morning through early evening. We are under a high wind warning by the National Weather Service with the strongest winds forecast from 11am to 8 pm time.  Winds will be from the south steady 25-40 mph with gusts potentially exceeding 60 mph. Winds of this magnitude will likely bring limbs and trees down potentially causing scattered to moderate power outages depending on the maximum wind gusts.

Understanding we are all advised to stay home unless absolutely necessary, should you need to leave to get essentials, please do so before 10 am.  Also, take the early morning time to secure your outdoor furniture and other loose items that could become airborne with the forecast high winds.

We do not anticipate any coastal issues in our area with the strong southerly winds. As mentioned, these winds could cause tree damage and power outages. It would be a good time to check your generators. It may be wise to get fresh gasoline as many small engines have problems running from stagnant gas that has been stored for the long winter.

Please be prepared for this high wind event and the potential for power outages. If you see power lines down call 911 for the fire department followed by calling National Grid at 800-465-1212 or Eversource at 800-592-2000 for Humarock residents. If you don't have a generator, you can freeze water bottles or water in any container that may help keep your food cold in case of a long duration power outage.

This is another challenge we will get through. Please be safe and be prepared for this high wind event tomorrow.

Happy Easter!
