Coastal Storm Advisory #7

Good Morning,

The recovery efforts continue by emergency management, public safety and our utility companies. Progress continues on the power restoration. As of 8am this morning 50% of power has been restored. All main line feeders in Scituate have been restored and crews will be working on re-energizing neighborhoods and small side streets. NGRid will have 39 line crews in Scituate today working on restoration efforts, along with multiple tree crews to continue clearing lines and roads. Refer to National Grid’s web site, https://outagemap.ma.nationalgridus.com to get an Estimated Time of Restoration for your location. Eversource is working to restore power on Ferry Street in Marshfield, which is expected to begin returning power to portions of Humarock. Eversource’s ETR is 6:00 pm tomorrow (Saturday) evening (ETR=99% of all outages restored).

Please keep clear of all wires especially as power begins to get restored. If you do not get power back when your neighbors do call National Grid at 800-465-1212 or Eversource at 800-286-2000 for Humarock residents. It would be wise to have your electrician check your electrical system, especially if you had tree and wire damage on your property. If you experience any electrical odors or arcing immediately call 911 for the fire department.

The Council on Aging, the Library, and Town Hall are open to all residents today who want to come in and charge their devices and get warm (COA has Coffee also!). The Transfer Station is open normal hours today (8:00 am – 3:30 pm). National Grid will be again dispatching their electronics charging truck again today and will be staged at the Cole Parkway (east side) parking lot for residents who want to charge devices. That vehicle will be there at 10:00 am.

Again, for those who have generators please make sure you stage them away from doors, windows, or attached garages. To further protect your family, make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors are in working order. Many residents are having issues with their detectors chirping due to the lack of power and low batteries. If you have back up batteries please replace them, if unsure please call the fire department. Common CO symptoms are feeling sluggish with early flu like symptoms. If you experience these symptoms call 911 immediately and go outside for fresh air.

We appreciate your patience during this long-duration storm and recovery. If you have any questions or need additional services please call the public safety dispatch at 781-545-1212 or 781-545-5515.

Stay well & be safe!
