Coastal Storm Advisory #6

Good evening,

The recovery efforts continue by emergency management, public safety and our utility companies. Progress continues on the power restoration as several schools, town hall, some senior housing, Front Street, and multiple neighborhoods have their power restored. As of 7pm 36% of power has been restored. Additional crews have arrived since this mornings update and they will continue to work through the night to get as much power restored as soon as possible.

Please keep clear of all wires especially as power begins to get restored. If you do not get power back when your neighbors do call National Grid at 800-465-1212 or Eversource at 800-286-2000 for Humarock residents. It would be wise to have your electrician check your electrical system, especially if you had tree and wire damage on your property. If you experience any electrical odors or arcing immediately call 911 for the fire department.

The Council on Aging, the library, and town hall are open to all residents again tomorrow who want to come in and charge their devices and get warm (COA has Coffee also!). National Grid will be dispatching their electronics charging truck again tomorrow and will be staged at the Cole Parkway (east side) parking lot for residents who want to charge devices. That vehicle will be there at 10:00 am.

For residents who need additional shelter, the regional shelter in Weymouth is open and available until Friday morning at 7am. Anyone needing transportation to the Regional Shelter can contact the Council on Aging at (781) 545-8722 or public safety dispatch at 781-545-1212.  The shelter is located at the Weymouth High School, 1 Wildcat Lane, Weymouth. Questions should be addressed to the Emergency Communications Dispatch Center at the Public Safety Complex.

Again, for those who have generators please make sure you stage them away from doors, windows, or attached garages. To further protect your family, make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors are in working order. Many residents are having issues with their detectors chirping due to the lack of power and low batteries. If you have back up batteries please replace them, if unsure please call the fire department. Common CO symptoms are feeling sluggish with early flu like symptoms. If you experience these symptoms call 911 immediately and go outside for fresh air.

We appreciate your patience during this long-duration storm and recovery. If you have any questions or need additional services please call the public safety dispatch at 781-545-1212 or 781-545-5515.

Stay well & be safe!
