Coastal Storm Advisory #13

Good afternoon,
We have been informed by National Grid and Eversource that all power has been restored to Scituate. We would like to thank all of our citizens for their patience during this long duration storm and recovery, especially those who did not regain power until this weekend.

We consider this as one of the worst wind events since the No Name Storm, ironically 30 years ago today. We were extremely fortunate that the high tides were astronomically low or the coastal flooding could have been, in the spirit of Halloween, a nightmare.

We would like to thank our utility companies for their efforts with the widespread damage we encountered with this storm. Utility crews from as far as Quebec helped us restore power and clear our roadways. We would also like to thank our firefighters, police officers, DPW workers, our warming center personnel, and our emergency management team for their outstanding efforts in emergency response and recovery of this challenging event. Their commitment to keeping our community safe was obvious and greatly appreciated.

We will coordinate with National Grid and Eversource to review this recovery effort and see how we can improve on our efficiency to restore our community to normal in the safest way we can. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding of the challenges we were faced with in the emergency response and recovery from this storm.

Happy Halloween! Be well & stay safe
