Announcement of School Committee Vacant Seat

In light of the recent resignation of School Committee member Michael Hayes, the Select Board with the remaining members of the School Committee shall temporarily appoint someone to fill this vacant position. This temporary appointment term is until the 2022 Annual Town Election.  At that time, the position of School Committee Position 1 will be placed on the ballot as a three-year term.  The procedures outlined in Massachusetts General Law (MGL) Chapter 41, Section 11 in regard to filling a vacancy due to a resignation will be followed. https://malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/Parti/TitleVII/Chapter41/Sect...

The Town of Scituate is currently accepting applicants who are interested in serving on the School Committee.  Interested parties should submit a letter of interest along with a resume by 4:30 p.m. on August 20, 2021 to the Select Board office, Town Hall, 600 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate in person, US Mail or via email to ldevin@scituatema.gov. 

Joint Select Board and School Committee interviews will be scheduled for Wednesday, September 8, 2021 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with an additional backup date for Thursday, September 9, 2021 depending on the number of interested applicants.  A joint meeting for a vote to fill the position will be scheduled for Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.  These joint public meetings will be held at the Scituate Senior Center, 333 First Parish Road, Floor 1 in the Egypt and Minot meeting rooms.
