What is this book?

Shortly after WW II started, Scituate townspeople sent money orders enclosed in Christmas cards to members of the community serving in the Armed Forces.  In 1996, the discovery of thank you letters sent back from those veterans were found stashed away in a cardboard box at the Scituate Town Hall.  Subsequently a project was formed, surviving veterans or families were contacted and shared memories, bios, and photographs were collected into book form.  These veterans, in their letters, expressed hope, patriotism, loneliness, gratitude and especially pride in their hometown. This book tries to convey these emotions to the reader and do justice to those who sacrificed so much.
