Sale or Transfer of Property Connected to Scituate Sewer

Please be advised that as of January 1, 2024, the Town of Scituate requires that private sewer services constructed out of clay, cast iron, or asbestos concrete, must be replaced and brought to code as part of the sale or transfer of a property.
This policy will address sewer line defects which could result in blockages or backups for new owners or leaks into the Town’s collection system. The materials specified have a service life of up to fifty years which is the average duration these services have been in use across Town.
