WEEKEND STORM THREAT FROM SCITUATE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Good afternoon,

It’s déjà vu all over again (Yogi Berra) for Scituate this weekend as we track a storm making its way up the East Coast and is forecast to impact our area Sunday night into Monday. Heavy rain of up to 2” and wind gusts over 50mph are forecast for Scituate. The wind and rain will be heaviest during the overnight hours continuing through the Monday morning commute hours.

The wind direction and timing of the high tide should be favorable and not contribute to any significant coastal flooding in our area. Residents should anticipate some minor coastal flooding in low lying areas leading up to the high tide shortly after 3:00 pm. The wind gusts when coupled with the rain could lead to downed limbs and trees resulting in scattered power outages. Please be prepared.

Residents should secure any holiday decorations in anticipation of the high winds.

Storm drains should be cleared of any leaves to allow drainage of the heavy rainfall expected.

Please keep an eye on the forecast as this storm is still 3 days away.

Have a safe weekend.
