Water Conservation

As warmer weather is approaching, the Scituate Water Department wants to remind everyone about our annual water conservation measures. Starting May 1st through September 30th, please note the following:

Outdoor watering is permitted only before 9 AM and after 5 PM. Automatic irrigation systems are allowed to run once a week, designated by precinct:

  • Precinct 1: Monday
  • Precinct 2: Tuesday
  • Precinct 3: Wednesday
  • Precinct 4: Thursday
  • Precinct 5: Friday

Remember, these restrictions are mandated by the state and are not based on local water levels or rainfall.

Additionally, when our reservoir drops to 36 feet (49% full), the Water Division may enforce a total outdoor watering ban. Since May 26, 2015, new in-ground systems are not permitted to connect to the town's drinking water supply. Please adhere to these guidelines to avoid fines of up to $300 per day.
