STRONG WINDS EXPECTED NEXT 24 HOURS

FROM THE SCITUATE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TEAM:

This predicted storm has turned into a potentially significant Nor’easter for us. Fortunately the high tides are as low as they could be (8.2') tonight and will be at (9.4') this morning with winds diminishing.  Along with heavy rain the winds will be the biggest impact and potential threat for this storm. Strong winds will exceed 25 mph steady NE around noon today increasing 30-35 mph steady by 3:00 pm to past midnight, diminishing after 4:00 a.m. The wind gusts will likely be close to 60 mph, strongest after 7:00 p.m.

Some splash over will cause minor coastal flooding. We have been in touch with National Grid and they will have extra crews available. Some scattered power outages are likely as a result of the high wind gusts.  Please plan accordingly. Further updates will be issued as needed or warranted. Go Pats!
