Scituate resident Clyde Gurney

Scituate lost long-time resident and friend, Clyde E. Gurney, on March 15th at the age of 99.  Clyde was a long-standing birder and actively contributed to supporting the bird environment at Widow’s Walk.   Over the years, he put up nearly 100 bird boxes around the course far enough away from fairways and greens to avoid creating unwanted obstructions for the golfers, while hoping to keep the houses themselves safe from harm.  All of the houses were hand built by Clyde in a machinery shop in Rockland. We are grateful for the efforts Clyde provided in support of the wildlife at Widows Walk Golf course.  Clyde was truly a town treasure.  His obituary stated his favorite saying was "The trick to life is to die young, as late as possible".  And that he did.
