SCITUATE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

Storm Update 1 at 1 pm

The current wind and rain event is having a significant impact on the area’s electric grid. National Grid has reported significant damage to feeder lines coming out of a sub-station in Hanover that serves multiple communities, including Scituate. Additionally, there are multiple trees, poles, and wires down in Scituate that will impact restoration times.

This is now a Level 3 Storm Event, meaning full power restoration could take up to 72 hours from the conclusion of the storm event, which will occur sometime this evening.

Currently, 96% of the Town is without power. Residents are urged to stay off the roads so the Town of Scituate crews and National Grid can begin clean-up operations.

Town of Scituate Schools is monitoring street closures due to downed power lines and trees and will adjust bus routes as necessary for dismissal this afternoon. Scituate Public Schools will be providing additional information to parents. Scituate Public Schools will be closed tomorrow.
