Current Status of Plans to Develop Lawson Green Affordable Rental Units for Seniors

Monday, April 3, 2017 at 7 p.m.
St. Mary’s Parish Center
1 Kent Street, Scituate, MA

Many residents of Scituate have heard about local plans for the development of new affordable rental apartments for seniors on part of the land allocated to Central Park Apartments. When it was built with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD provided for excess land that can now be used to expand affordable rental housing options for our local low income seniors. Once construction is completed, these new rental units will be available to low income seniors, with a preference for Scituate applicants.

We are confident that Central Park and the neighboring abutters will be good neighbors with the new Lawson Green Apartments and we look forward to discussing our plans with our fellow citizens. The meeting will be open to all and will address the project’s current status, future affordability, preference for Scituate Seniors, and other issues of interest or concern. Attending will be the developer of the project, Michael Cucchiara of the Grantham Group Company, Joe Armstrong serving as the Housing Authority’s Affordability Consultant, and Steve Coulter, Chairperson of the Authority’s Board along with fellow Board members and Scituate Housing Authority staff members.

We strongly encourage all residents to attend if possible so you will be fully informed about this exciting new senior affordable rental option for Scituate Seniors. If there are any further questions, please call the Authority at
