January Nor’easter Advisory #6

Good afternoon,

As we all work to recover from this major storm, emergency management, public safety, and DPW workers continue working to make sure we get back to normal operations. The snow levels are close to 2’ in the West End and 16”-20” closer to the coast. The only impactful flood tide was the 8am tide Saturday that brought widespread minor to moderate flooding and heavy debris to many of our coastal roads. We were fortunate on the following tides that the wind turned to the northwest bringing only splash over to pockets of minor flooding.

The strongest wind gusts recorded in Scituate were 90mph. We have been maintaining ongoing coordination with our utility companies and we have been informed by National Grid that as of noontime today all power is restored to mainland Scituate. We still have a challenge of restoring power in North Humarock due to the expansive debris blocking access to that area. There are 32 homes still without power in that location. DPW has two large loaders working in that area to clear the roads so Eversource can complete the power restoration in Humarock.

We appreciate everyone staying off of the roads during the storm and we strongly encourage you to be extremely cautious as you drive today; the roads are slick, many folks are shoveling, and plowing operations continue. We also appreciate those who live along the coastline who found alternate living quarters for this storm and we hope any damage to your homes is minimal.

Thank you for your cooperation, patience, & trust!
