Excessive Heat and Thunderstorm Advisory

Good morning,

As the excessive heat and humidity continues there is some relief expected later today into this evening as a cold-front transits through our area. With this cold front comes the chance for scattered severe thunderstorms that could bring heavy rain, damaging winds, and the potential for hail. The forecast also warns of the slight chance for a tornado. Please review the attached tornado safety info guideline below or on our emergency management web page.

Town of Scituate will be providing cooling centers today at:

The Scituate Council on Aging (Senior Center) 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

The Town Library from 9am to 5pm.

The Sloop is available for transportation. If a resident needs a transport and is unable to use the Sloop, you can contact the non-emergency line at the Public Safety Complex 781-545-1212.  If you have a medical emergency please dial 911.

Please keep an eye to the sky especially if you have outside plans or are on the road. Stay hydrated and review the attached Heat Wave Safety checklist.
