InterLibrary Loan & Commonwealth Catalog

InterLibrary Loan

If you can’t find what you need in the OCLN library catalog or the Commonwealth Catalog, we can likely get it for you through InterLibrary Loan, whose borrowing scope within the continental US is extensive.

ILL is useful for more obscure materials that are often owned by larger libraries; journal article photocopies, university press publications, microfilm, government documents, and out of print books are typical requests.

You can submit a request in person at the library by speaking to any staff member, or you can do it online.

  • The request is reviewed by Scituate ILL staff, and then submitted to Massachusetts Library System's ILL Center for processing.
  • You should allow a minimum of 2 weeks for an ILL request to be filled. In state loans are generally free for patrons; in rare cases, a lending library may impose an additional lender's fee.

Commonwealth Catalog

If you can't find what you need in the OCLN Library Catalog, you may find items at other Massachusetts library networks within the Commonwealth Catalog. This state-wide catalog gives you access to materials at public, academic and special libraries throughout the Commonwealth.
