Talking Books and Playback Machines from Perkins 

The Perkins Library offers over 75,000 audiobooks for qualifying individuals. Specialized playback equipment is required to use talking books and magazines, and Perkins provides the equipment free of charge to the patron. Learn more about this service!  

Talking Information Center

The Talking Information Center (TIC) is a radio reading service dedicated to the blind, visually impaired and otherwise print-impaired population of Massachusetts and beyond. National and local newspapers, along with current affairs publications, consumer information, and community-based announcements comprise the bulk of programming that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Text-to-Speech Pen Readers

The Library has two text-to-speech pen readers available for check out thanks to the generosity of the Scituate Commission on Disabilties. These devices will read aloud and can be used with headphones. 

DaVinci Desktop Magnifier

For in-library use, the Library has a desktop video magnifier for enlarging and reading documents. The DaVinci magnifier will also read printed text aloud with the push of a button.
