The Scituate Historical Society

Facebook LogoThe Scituate Historical Society has an enormous collection of historic artifacts and fascinating stories about the history of Scituate. Over 375 years in the making and coming up on the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims landing in Plymouth, Scituate and the South Shore have a lot to share and see regarding early American. Some of the more well-known historic landmarks in Scituate are owned by the Historical Society, while others are owned by the Town or the State, and include the following:

  • Judge Cushing Park – at the end of Cushing Park Road off Neal Gate Street
  • G.A.R. Hall – 353 Country Way
  • W.P.A. Building – 7 Henry Turner Bailey Road
  • Maritime and Irish Mossing Museum – 301 Driftway
  • Old Oaken Bucket House – 47 Old Oaken Bucket Road
  • Scituate Lighthouse – 100 Lighthouse Road
  • Cudworth House, Barn and Cattle Pound – 331 First Parish Road
  • Lawson Tower – 330 First Parish Road
  • Little Red School House - 43 Cudworth Road
  • Mann House - Greenfield Lane & Stockbridge Road
  • Bates House - 6 Jericho Road

The Scituate Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of local historical sites and the education of young and old alike. SHS is located in the Little Red School House at 43 Cudworth Road.
