SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP)

SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities.

The Scituate Food Pantry is a 501C non-profit organization sponsored by the Scituate Clergy Association. To be eligible for this assistance, a person needs to be a resident of the town and meet basic income guidelines.

MEALS ON WHEELS

Meals on wheels is a home delivered meals program designed to provide the right combination of good nutrition and a friendly visitor for people 60+ who may not have enough food, be able to prepare their own food, or understand the proper nutritional requirements as they are advancing in age.

The program delivers meals based on need, so whether long or short term. Whether recovering from surgery or an illness, or just not having the mobility to get to the market on a regular basis.

WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN PROGRAM (WIC)

WIC is a nutrition program that provides healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and other services, free of charge, to Massachusetts families who qualify.

You can participate in the WIC program if you have a child under 5, are a new mom, or a pregnant or breastfeeding woman and meet the income criteria.

You are automatically income eligible if you have MassHealth/Medicaid, or receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TADFC) benefits.

FARMER'S MARKET NUTRITIONAL PROGRAM

If you are over the age of 60, or disabled and your income falls within the guidelines you are eligible to receive coupons to local farmer's markets. 

The coupons usually arrive in mid-July for distribution. Quantities are limited and are on a first come first serve basis. Please contact Erin Lamonte at 781-545-8873 in advance to apply and reserve your coupons. Erin Lamonte will call you when they arrive, you will only need to sign a form stating you meet the income requirements. You can use these coupons at many area Farmers Markets.
