Scituate Community Television Advisory Board Minutes

Thursday, June 25, 2015 – 6:00 PM

Location: Selectmen’s Hearing Room, Town Hall

 

  1. Meeting called to order – In attendance: Members Mike Davis, Rich Long, Al Bangert, (John Roser, Executive Director, Briana Trifiro, Executive Producer).
  2. Acceptance of the Agenda – Motion by Rich, seconded by Mike – unanimous vote.
  3. Approval of the Minutes of the May 26th meeting – Motion by Rich, seconded by Mike – unanimous vote.
  4. Review of the Mission, Charter and Goals – There was a brief discussion and re-read of the document that incorporated input from the May 26th meeting.  Motion made by Rich, seconded by Mike, to adopt the Mission, Charter and Goals as attached - unanimous vote.
  5. Review of request for funds to purchase equipment to improve coverage of School Committee meetings – The Board members reviewed the draft document and made several wording changes to improve clarity.  John R. said that he forwarded the potential equipment list to IT Manager (Bill Sheehan) and School District Technical Coordinator (Rich Long) for their review and input.  Both agreed that the equipment list was sound.  Motion made by Rich, seconded by Mike, to forward revised request memo to Town Administrator for action – unanimous vote.
  6. Review of first episode of “I always wanted to do that…!” - The Board members endorsed the episode as an example of new locally produced content.  Mike, Briana, John and Al reported that they will soon have 9 episode in Season One ready for broadcasting and posting on YouTube.  These will be rolled out at a time.  The Board members recommended that a copy of the first episode be sent to the TA and the Board of Selectmen.  Al agreed to do this via email link.
  7. Executive Director Update - The yearend budget is right on target.  John received positive feedback from Accounting for managing the financials.  No quality complaints in past two weeks.  Picture and sound quality has improved due to work with Comcast and equipment vendor.
  8. Other business - The Board discussed meeting frequency and timing.  The members decided to meet quarterly on Tuesdays at 5 PM.
