Scituate Housing Authority (SHA)

Agenda
History and Purpose:

The Local Housing Authority was duly created pursuant to Section 3 of Chapter 121B of the Massachusetts General Laws on the 24th day of June, 1958.  The purpose of a local housing authority is to provide and oversee state and federal aided housing for seniors and the disabled.

Scituate Housing Authority (SHA):

The SHA board is comprised of five members. Four members are elected at large by the town and one member is appointed by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Each serves for a five year term and may be re-elected or re-appointed.

Functions Of The Board:

The board acts as an administrative and policymaking body overseeing the Scituate Housing Authority. It meets on a regular monthly basis (typically on the second Tuesday of the month) at the Lincoln Park office.  The board can occasionally hold special meetings and at a different location as necessary.

The daily routine operations are attended to by the Executive Director and his staff.
