Scituate Weather Update

As we get into a warming trend the snow has begun to melt and will increase as heavy rain moves in Friday afternoon through Saturday. 2”-3” are forecast for our area and we are under a flood watch (from the rain, no coastal issues). This could cause localized street and basement flooding. Please make sure your sump pumps are operational and clear your street drains of snow and debris. Please keep clear of flooded areas, it’s difficult to estimate the depth and what debris it may contain.

Friday afternoon will bring southwest winds with potential gusts exceeding 50mph. These winds may cause tree and limb damage that could cause localized power outages. As the storm ends Saturday afternoon the cold temperatures will return, likely freezing roadways with the potential for black ice. Please be aware if driving or walking late Saturday into Sunday morning.

Any Scituate residents having challenges from being displaced due to storm damage may contact S.A.N.D.S. (Scituate Alliance of Natural Disaster Services) for assistance or guidance at www.sandshelps.org.

Please be safe,
