Scituate New Senior Center / Recreation Center Renovation Project – Updates #8 and #9

Progress update and upcoming three-week look-ahead schedule

UPDATE #8:

General/Site Conditions

  • Start drives and utilities layout

Senior Center

  • C Wing foundation demolition complete
  • Start building layout and excavation
  • Proof-rolling/compaction of the building footprint
  • Start foundations

Recreation Center

  • Foundation work for new stairs and ramp to start

Please note: the above schedule is based on information provided by the General Contractor during the weekly job meetings, and is subject to change depending on weather, unforeseen conditions, or other reasons.

The current issue with COVID-19 is not expected to delay or halt the construction work, unless directed by local, State, and/or Federal health officials.

UPDATE #9

The project has been divided into main work areas as follows:

General/Site Conditions

  • Removal of the climbing area pole complete
  • Stripping of loam and grading
  • Installation of onsite utilities.

Senior Center

  • Form and pour footings and foundations
  • Start underground plumbing

Recreation Center

  • Foundation work for new stairs and ramp is ongoing

Also note the current work involves heavy equipment resulting in noise and vibration.
