Roadway Update

The Town will be conducting paving operations on the following streets:

First Parish Road: The contractor has begun rebuilding the sidewalk. This is expected to take up to 3 to 4 weeks. When the sidewalk is completed the paver will return and apply the final top coat of asphalt. Then the road will be marked with permanent pavement markings. This will be a similar project to the one on Beaver Dam Road last season.

Oceanside Drive from First Ave to Turner Road with a section of Turner Road. The road has been ground and a leveling course applied. The contractor is expected to start putting the final course of asphalt on the roadway on Thursday 5.21.20 and Friday 5.22.20.

Captain Pierce Road from Country Way to Curtis has had an asphalt leveling course applied. The road casting have been raised to final grade. The contractor is scheduled to apply the final coat of asphalt on Wednesday 5.20.20.

Torreys Lane: The asphalt is scheduled to be completed on 5.20.20 when Captain Pierce is completed.  If there are delays on Captain Pierce this work could be delayed.

Mann Lot Road: This road has been rebuild and the base course is installed. The castings have been raised and it is scheduled to receive a top coat of asphalt on 5.19.20.

What is a leveling course? A leveling course is a course of asphalt used to re-establish the shape and slope of the roadway so the water will drain properly. It is also used to add to the strength of the roadway is weak spots are identified during the grinding process.

When the top coat is being installed on the roadway traffic even for residents will be significantly reduced. Please plan ahead.

The asphalt contractor performing this work is scheduling the paving operation. The schedule is dependent on production, weather and equipment breakdowns, which directly impacts the timing. All work will start at 7:00 am and should be completed by 5:00 pm. When these roads are under construction they will be open to residents only and traffic will be impacted.
