FIRE DEPARTMENT BURN PERMITS AND REQUEST TO BURN ARE NOW ONLINE

The Town of Scituate is now issuing burn permits online. There is also a new online process for confirming that burning is allowed on any specific day, and entering your request to burn.

If you live at an address where burning is permitted you may access the burning permit application program by clicking on the “Burning Permits” link on the Town of Scituate’s homepage or by choosing “Burning Permits” from the Online Services menu. This will bring you to the Fire Department burn permit page https://www.scituatema.gov/fire-department/pages/burning-permit-application. Clicking on the blue highlighted line that reads “Please click here to access the application page or request to burn” will bring you to the “Scituate Fire-Burn Permits” form where you can apply for a burn permit and where you can request to burn. Instructions in the box at the top of the form will explain how to do both. A permit number will be issued after payment is completed. Payment can be made by credit card, debit card, or electronic check.

It will be necessary to access the burn permit program between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM on days that you intend to burn and record your intent to burn. Burning will not be permitted on “Red Flag” days when atmospheric conditions exist that create a hazard as determined by the fire department officer-in-charge and the MassDEP.

You may view your permit by accessing the site and clicking on your permit number near the right of the page highlighted in blue. (BP-21-XXXX). Scroll to the bottom of the page and select print to print a hard copy of your permit for future reference.
