ACTION Required: COVID-19 risk is high in Scituate – You can save a life

Dear Residents of Scituate,

Last Thursday, the Commonwealth released its weekly public health report, and it shows that our residents are currently at a dangerously high-risk from COVID-19. The rate of COVID cases locally is much higher than the state’s average. We need to do more to protect our families, loved ones, and community. You can save a life by taking action.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Scituate has more than doubled in the past week to a recent high of 119 cases over a 7 day period ending January 3, 2021, with numbers expected to continue to rise after the recent Holiday week. Because of this spike in cases, effective Wednesday, January 6, 2021, the Scituate Town Hall will be open to residents by appointment only. Residents seeking an appointment should call or email the appropriate department to make arrangements(Town Hall Directory). Appointments will be subject to strict COVID-19 protocols, including contact tracing information. In addition, the Scituate Public Library will be available for curbside pick-up and drop-off only. Information on this can be found at the Library website, www.Scituatema.gov/town-library. These restrictions will remain for a period of two weeks, at which time the Town will revisit them to see where we stand relative to COVID-19 in Scituate.

Please take steps now:

  • Wear a mask when outside, or inside shared spaces where you can’t keep a safe distance from others
  • Wash your hands often.
  • Keep gatherings small – even with family and friends and make sure everyone wears a mask and keeps a safe distance.
  • Don't share food or drinks.
  • Stay home if you feel sick.
  • Follow travel quarantine guidelines.
  • Get tested.
