Economic Development Commission

Mission Statement: The EDC’s mission is to enhance existing business, attract new business and customers and encourage redevelopment in order to increase the town’s property tax revenues, income, job base and over all economic health.

Goals and Priorities for 2023/2024

• North Scituate Planning and Zoning efforts
  • Support planning and implementation of short-term physical improvements in North Scituate Business District in conjunction with TA, BOS, DPW, Planning and local organizations
  • Participate in regional sewer discussion with TA, BOS, DPW and Planning
  • Provide support to small businesses.
  • Participate in long range planning
• Participate in Scituate Master Plan update (Planning Board) and Coastal Vision Plan (Coastal Advisory Committee) processes
• Participate/support Scituate Harbor Sustainability & Resiliency Master Plan process
  • Serve on project steering committee/working group
  • Provide funding to supplement MAPC and EEA grant funding
• Participate and provide leadership for SHARC (reuse of the old Pier 44 site on Jericho Rd)
• Provide support to coordinate local events (e.g., food trucks, dock to dish, etc.)
• Improve working relationships between business community and business organizations (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, Harbor Merchants, etc, North Scituate Business Association, Friends of NS) 
• Support Sister-City, Irish Heritage Trail, Historic, Beautification and other town wide initiatives.
• Support and enhance the efforts to promote tourism thru Scituatevisitorscenter.com    
• Broad outreach for business liaisons and community leader groups
