Town Meeting and Town Elections
Town Meeting and Town Elections
With the conclusion of town meeting town departments are now preparing for the start of a new fiscal year on July 1 and the conclusion of the current fiscal year which ends on June 30. We are grateful to the 279 voters who attended town meeting this year. This was the lowest number of town meeting attendees since 2009. 1,258 residents voted in the Special Election May 10. We currently have 14,114 registered voters in Town. Below is a ten-year history of voting at our annual town meeting and annual town election. Like town meeting, those taking part in our annual town election have fallen off considerably from the high of 6,325 in 2007. Over the coming months we want to know what reasons or impediments residents may have that keeps them from attending town meeting and/or voting in the annual town election. Voters determine our town’s programs, services and operations and define our overall character. If there is something we as a community can explore to increase voter participating we want your input. Keep checking the Town’s website for more information.
