Storm Advisory January 29 – 2:00 p.m.

Town of Scituate

Storm Advisory January 29 – 2:00 p.m.

The Town’s State of Emergency was lifted at 10:00 a.m. this morning.

The phone system is down in Town Hall.  Verizon in now working on the problem but were have no estimate at to when it will be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We expect more inclement weather this week-end. PLEASE clear your roofs of snow and dig out fire hydrants. Check on your neighbors.

Road and debris clearing continues. Clearing on Central Avenue in Humarock will take several days. All N’Star customers have power.  All power was restored for National Grid customers within 42 hours. Twelve National Grid customers remain without power as a result of building and wire damage.

The Building Department continues exterior building inspections. Many homes in Humarock have significant damage and some are not inhabitable. Board members and town staff accompanied Congressman Lynch to view damage today.  At the request of Governor Baker and Secretary Beaton, DEP Commissioner Sandburg and his staff have been extremely cooperative allowing us to move debris and over wash in Humarock to open Central for emergency vehicles. Cable and telephone wires are still down.  Town staff will continue to be out inspecting.

The Town addresses issues on a priority basis: power, safety of emergency vehicles, school and office reopening, etc. We will get to everything on the checklist, but it is still going to take several days. We thank you for your continued patience.

This will be the last Advisory for today unless the circumstances warrant.
