Storm Advisory  #5 – January 27 – 3:15 p.m.

Town officials with National Grid have made limited field inspections along selected areas of the coastline. Visibility is still very limited throughout Town. The following streets are hazardous and should be avoided: Surfside, Oceanside, Turner, Rebecca Road, Glades and Central Avenue have dozens of downed primary electric wires, flooding, sand and debris making the roads impassable. Numerous houses were observed to have significant structural damage. The Building Commissioner has estimated it is the worst damage to homes since 1991. Some areas could not be accessed because of wave over wash which is severe even two hours in advance of today’s 4:58 p.m. high tide. Electrical outages in other areas have been limited. Field inspections will resume tomorrow morning. Please stay away from these areas.
