Storm Advisory #2, Thursday, February 9, 2017 – 6:30 p.m.

There have been isolated power outages for about 250 customers but it was restored by crews fairly quickly. The coast has high winds and the snow is continuously drifting onto the road.

Forecast from Chief Murphy: The strong NE winds continue creating white out conditions that are expected to last after 8pm as the heavier snow bands cross our area. Currently we have 3-4” on the ground with higher drifts. The strong NE winds will start to turn north after 4pm and from the NW after 6pm. With the change in wind direction temperatures will drop into the teens likely through Saturday morning. The NW winds should minimize any coastal impact for tonight’s high tide at 10pm (10’). There is a potential for more snow on Saturday. The feedback from public safety is that the roads are slick. Please stay home and let the plow crews do their job.

Please remember that power outages cannot be addressed if the wind is over 35 mph. STAY AWAY FROM DOWNED WIRES and report to the Scituate Police Department: 781-545-1212. Please use 911 FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY.

We are making every effort to try and have the Transfer Station open tomorrow.

Help us help you: Please help our Fire Department by keeping hydrants clear.
