6 Oceanside Avenue

SCITUATE, MA
The Town received a report of a seawall breach on a private seawall at 6 Oceanside Avenue around 3:00 p.m. today. Town and public safety officials immediately went to view the reported location. The seawall in this area has two sections, totaling about 22 feet that have been compromised. The first section was broken over a year ago and the Town worked with the property owners to obtain easements to repair the broken section this spring. Today, a second section was damaged at the joint of the first. This section can be repaired in warmer weather. The road access to this section of seawall is less than six feet wide.  Unfortunately, armor stone and sandbagging is not possible. While the additional 10 foot opening will increase water flow to this area there is no additional risk for residents at this time.
